How do u convert decimal to fraction with square root sym regarding trigonometric functions?
Q. I know how to calculate degrees and radian but I need to know how to convert a decimal I get from degree or radian into a square root fraction also known as a exact answer. For example I have sin 4pie/3 and I know this in decimals is 0.073043073 but what is it in the exact form? I checked the answer key and I see - square root 3 divided by 2 but how do you get this?
Asked by Amanda - Tue Jul 7 17:32:47 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. sin(4pi/3) = sin(pi + pi/3) = - sin(pi/3) (because sin(pi+theta) = -sin(theta)) = - sqrt(3)/2 (because sin(pi/3) = sqrt(3)/2) Ans: - sqrt(3)/2 ___ Remember the following: sin(0) = 0 cos(0) = 1 sin(pi/6) = 1/2 cos(pi/6) = sqrt(3)/2 sin(pi/4) = 1/sqrt(2) cos(pi/4) = 1/sqrt(2) sin(pi/3) = sqrt(3)/2 cos(pi/3) = 1/2 sin(pi + theta) = -sin(theta) sin(pi - theta) = sin(theta) cos(pi +/- theta) = - cos(theta) If you know sin and cos, then you can get other trigonometric ratios because tan = sin/cos cot = cos/sin sec = 1/cos csc = 1/sin

A. fraction to percentage-change it to a decimal (divide) then move the decimal two places to the right. decimal to fraction-i think you make the decimal a percentage then thats out of a 100 (ex. 50/100) then just simplify it, if it needs to be. so that would be 5/10. and yahh

How can I turn a decimal fraction into an integer fraction?

A. You can turn it into 63/99 as earlier answer suggests, but your still going to have trouble doing anything with it without a calculator. You can reduce it-- that might help. 63/99 is (9)(7)/(9)(11) or (cancelling) 7/11. Your problem then becomes 5 + 7/11. Multiply 5 by 11/11 and you get 55/11 + 7/11 = 62/11...answer

I need to know this because sometimes the answer for the exam question only provides fraction numbers instead of decimal numbers. How do I need to know if the decimal numbers is so big that I dont know how to change it to fraction numbers?

A. this is a link to the manual for that calculator; i couldn't find anything in there that described your dilemma. But doublecheck behind me. you might just have to borrow someone else's calculator that does have a F to D key on it. Your kind of calculator is not one I find with my high school students.

A. 4/5 and 1 4/5 are quite easy actually.. It's just logic thinking. 4/5 (or 8/10) is 0,8.. And 1 4/5 is the same as 9/5, which is 18/10 = 1,8 That's just the way it goes. Lol.

How do you express a repeating decimal as a fraction?
Q. How do you express something on the calculator screen as a fraction? like if you have 20/6 (twenty over six) as a fraction and you type it into your calculator, you get a repeating decimal or something, so how do you express whatever repeating decimal as a fraction like if you get 3.333, how do you solve this to get a fraction?
Asked by Labrythn - Mon Jul 28 16:06:46 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. ignore everything before the decimal point setup an equation and solve like this x=0.333... 10x=3.333... 9x=3 x=1/3 so basically you set x to equal the repeating decimal, then multiply it by a power of ten until you get a "cluster" of decimals by itself before the decimal point. then subtract 1x (which is equivalent to the repeating decimal and can be used to remove the repeating decimal after the power of ten multiplication). then solve for x and simplify

Why do the 99x or 999x signify when converting a repeating decimal to a fraction?
Q. When converting a repeating decimal to a fraction, you multiply it by, say, 100. Then you subtract 1x from both sides, leaving 99x or 999x. What is the signifigance to it always being 99, 999, etcetera ? Thanks!
Asked by james r - Mon Sep 17 13:52:11 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. This is so you can isolate the "x" and determine a fractional equivalent for the decimal. By going through the process you've described, you eliminate the sequence following the decimal point, and so solving for x, the fractional equivalent becomes feasible. As an example, suppose we have .272727...= x 100 x = 27.272727... and 99x = 100 x - x = 27. So now x = 27/99 = 3/11

A. You put it into your calculator the same way you typed it here: 1/8 means 1 divided by 8 This gives you 0.125, by example. To verify if you got the decimal right, so the same thing backwards to check your answer (it should always give you 1 as answer, alright?): 0.125 * 8 = 1 -- so you simply multiply your decimal by the same fraction, but only works when its one over another number, like 1/8, 1/3. it won't work if you have 5/8 or something else, where its not a 1 on top of ur fraction

A. To convert a decimal number to a fraction, you put the number over 1 followed by as many zeroes beyond the decimal point. For example: 0.5 --> 5/10 = 1/2 0.0003 --> 3/10,000 (four zeroes) 0.000123 ---> 123/1,000,000 (six zeroes) In your cases: 0.00030889 =... 30,889 (leading zeroes removed) --- 100,000,000 (8 zeroes = 8 places after the decimal point) 0.005556 =... 555,556 (leading zeroes removed) --- 100,000,000 (8 zeroes = 8 places after the decimal point) Note this second one can be reduced: =.. 138,889 --- 25,000,000

Q. Alright, well, I'm an eighth grader in Algebra. Right now, I'm working on homework and there's this problem where I have to turn a repeating fraction into a decimal. The repeating fraction is 17.777... I need the steps on solving this and the subsequent answer. Thank you very much!!

A. there's a strategy, but I've found that any constantly repeating decimal is multiple by 9. So, you have 17 and (7/9), or 160/9
