How long does it take to learn how to create great animations with 3D Studio Max?
Q. I am very interested in animating and it's what i want to do. I am curious about the learning curve, naturally. About how long would it take me to really get 3D Studio max down to the point where I can make great animations. Also, about how long does it take to create a great model along with the textures and create ashort animation? And what's the hardest part? The modeling, animation, or texturing?

A. It is not that difficult; and you can learn really fast how to use most of the tools, you have to understand the 3D concepts Very importent-, But it dose consume time to build models and making animations, unless you are really into it, you will get bored. You will never fell that it s really interesting; unless you have some coool ideas. Frankly with 3d modeling and animation, always; your limit is your imagination. Modeling and animating your models is really pain in the .

What is the job availability like after taking a college course on 3D Studio Max?
Q. I am thinking of taking a college course on 3D studio max. What i would like to know is if there are oppertunities out there for me to take after completing this course and how available the jobs are.
Asked by Ben F - Wed May 20 10:52:58 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. one course (3 credits) does not qualify you for a job. 3DSMax is a highly complex application, and there are many nuances to it. Without a background in design, color theory, art history etc, you are just another computer jock, making $10 and hour. If it is a certificate program (30 credits etc), then you MIGHT be able to get some entry level work.

A. Personally, I use blender 3d, but the basics are the same. I would use a blueprint of the ground floor as a background image and model based off of that. (In blender you just go into edit mode and ctrl+click to add vertexes at every corner and lines along every wall, then extrude everything along the z-axis.) I am new to 3D Studio Max and I need some recommendations.?
Q. I am new to 3D studio max and the world of 3D modeling, I hope to learn the basics through a comprehensive book, but I've had a hard time fidning a good one for beginners. This book has been getting great reviews, but the problem is it's based off 3D studio max 9, and the version I have is 2010... Would this still be helpful? Is their really a big difference?
Asked by Kill_Sarah_Connor_ - Wed Dec 9 23:03:40 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The versions haven't changed much at all, all the basics should be relevant from 8 to now. So yeah, get the book. 2010 has barely just come out so finding a comprehensive manual on it now is not going to happen for a bit and you should get started instead of waiting.

How do you add pictures to 3d studio max?
Q. How you add pictures to a 3d object so i make it look deatiled, like brickwork ect?? I'm using 3D Studio
Asked by Merlei - Fri Jul 11 16:49:36 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. ok, this is very easy. If you can use pictures in 3d max only has to create a plane then you add to this plane a material. Go to materials > go to click in diffuse and select bitmap. In this moment you see a browser and you find the picture that you want to put in max. This material will be applied to the plane. Other form is if you want to put a background, Then you click the number 8 and go to select map and find a image tp put in background. The first option is good to guide your 3d model with a photo and the second is good to put backgrund to your scene. Visit I can help you more.

A. What exactly do you want to import? You can render your model to an image and then open it from Photoshop. It's recommended that you render it to a format that contains alpha (i.e. transparency) information, such as tga or tiff.

Asked by Tevin - Fri Jul 24 10:09:25 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. you could possibly use a noise map as a specular map for the object, and possibly even the self illumination map to get the glare as well... Then you would animate the gizmo of the UV Map modifier... I would also apply a blur to the noise just to give it extra realism... It would be tough to get it to look just right using only materials, but I think it can be done if you tweak it the right way. Are you trying to do this to just cut down render time or something from the light calculations? Hope this helps! A. Its easy to learn how to use 3D studio max, there is abselutly no need to take didicated courses. You would just follow tutorials online, and read the ducumention which came with 3d studio max. Here is some places with free tutorials: you will also find, that there are alot of free video tutorials around the net, i wouldent recommend YouTube however, since the quality on those are quite bad. If you are an architectural student however, you may want to learn AutoCad Architectural Desktop. At such, you may want to visit the following links. (AutoCAD Tutorials | CADTutor) (FBE online learning AutoCAD - 2D Tutorials) You might also want to learn Autodesk Inventor, its quite easy after a few basic instructions, and its… [cont.]

How do I rotate a Biped on 3D Studio Max?
Q. Everytime I try to turn it 180, it tends to curl up into itself. How do I simply make the figure face the other direction? Also any additional general help with bipeds would be appreciated
Asked by Jo - Tue Feb 24 12:46:00 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. i think i know what your problem is. chances are, you are selecting all the parts of the biped. this is an incorrect way to turn it. when rotating and piece of the biped it turns according to its own pivot set. so if your pulling all the parts of the arm at the same time, it will curl up on you. if you want to rotate the entire model you need to grab its main gizmo, which is located inside of the pelvis. Its easier to select it in wire frame mode so that you can actually grab it rather than the pelvis itself. just grab the small gizmo(which looks like a diamond) and rotate it with that. i hope that helps

how to get color in 3d studio max?
Q. I have .3ds files that I know have color in them, but how do I enable the colors?
Asked by Scorcher117 - Sat Apr 14 21:08:32 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think by colors you are talking about the materials. There may be a few reasons for this. if you didn't render the scene then you will not see any of the materials most of the time they are not in the view ports even in the shaded ones. To render all you have to do is push the button on the top tool bar that looks like a tea pot. If you do this and you get a message that says material is missing that means that the path to the materials is different from the computer it was coped from. If some of them are bit maps you will have to copy the bitmaps and put them on your computer then show the path. You do this threw the material editor. Alot of this stuff you can learn threw the help it is Farly simple. I hope this helped I'm not sure… [cont.]
